A total of 150 youths successfully completed their six months vocational training at Good Samaritan Juakali vocational school in Laroo-Pece Division in Gulu city and graduated on Friday May 30, 2025.
Ketty Adyero one of the graduates from the department of tailoring and garment cutting was so excited for completing her training and she said, the training has resurrected her lost hope.
“I am so happy that I can’t express my happiness because now I have confidence that the family, I come from will never be the same again because now I will go home and start working and through me, I will let my sisters and brothers go to school and study,” Adyero expressed.
She added that, there is no one in their family who studied and has any skill but with the skill she has got, she will put the knowledge in practice to change the family as she also encouraged her fellow girls not to be discouraged by words.
Alfred Okwonga the Gulu city mayor who graced the event as the guest of honor urged the graduates to utilize the skills and tools acquired from the school to make a positive impact in their communities.
“I request you, you start your work immediately when you reach home, don’t take long because if you take long sometimes you can be diverted, and now the equipment have been given to you, go and make good use of it,” he said.
The mayor advised the graduates that when they are doing their work, they should make sure that they come up with best output and encouraged them not to only stop at the certificate level but also continue upgrading because the more you study, the more you will earn.

General Director BBT or Back to Bible Truth Apostle Alex Mitala advised the graduates to adopt work collaboratively in groups, emphasizing that the approach fosters diverse ideas and enhance skills development.
“You are to learn to work in a group because that is the best way of getting much money, trust each other and work in groups, try you will see how God is going to bless you. I want to say I wish you success wherever you are going,” he said.
He also urged the graduates to start a savings group because it will help them, because through that, they will be in position to access credits if they need it to boost their business.
Sunday Ajok a graduate from the department of hair dressing and beautification said she was not having any hope in her life because she dropped out of school when she was in senior two because her parents had failed to pay her school fees but by God’s grace, she was admitted at Good Samaritan vocational school for a six months skill training program and now she is very hopeful that she will be someone important in this world.
“I had nothing like any skill but right now I can now plait hair, I can be able to open my own saloon and hopefully I will be able to teach others outside with the skills I gained from here,” she said.
Among the 150 youths, 50 of them were awarded with certificates in welding and metal fabrication, 50 in hair dressing and beautification, 50 in tailoring and garment cutting and they were all provided with startup tools to start their work with.
