ALUR KINGDOM EXTENDS CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY OF LATE RAILA AMOLO ODINGA

The Alur Kingdom, led by His Majesty Ubimu Philip Olarker Rauni III, has expressed profound sorrow following the untimely passing of Raila Amolo Odinga, former Prime Minister of Kenya and revered Luo elder, on October 15, 2025, in India.
 
In a heartfelt condolence message, Ubimu Rauni III, the Lebtong (Spearhead) of the Central Luo, joined Mama Ida Odinga, the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga family, the Luo community, and the people of Kenya in mourning the loss of a towering figure.
Representing the Alur people of Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the diaspora, he described Odinga as a Kenyan nationalist, pan-Africanist, and an "illustrious son" of the Luo Nation whose dedication to unity and justice was unwavering.
 
"Raila Amolo Odinga’s commitment to the progress and prosperity of the greater Luo Nation was unquestionable," Ubimu Rauni III stated. "His ability to disagree agreeably and uphold the Luo principle of Ajaa (truth-telling) and justice was emblematic of true Luoness".
 
 
According to Ubimu, Odinga’s death is seen not as an end but as a rallying call for deeper unity among the Luo people across borders, inspiring a shared vision for a prosperous future.
 
His legacy, Ubimu noted, will continue to fuel aspirations for global Luohood.
 
Thousands of mourners, relatives, and dignitaries gathered on Sunday to pay their final respects to Kenya’s veteran opposition leader, Raila Odinga, who passed away at 80. He was laid to rest near his farm in Bondo, close to Lake Victoria in western Kenya.
 
The late Raila Amolo Odinga was laid to rest, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, leadership, and an enduring commitment to justice and unity. 
 
The Alur Kingdom prays for his soul to rest in eternal peace.
