Arua City has handed over the construction work of Onduparaka Market in Ayivu Division to Ashanty Business Services Uganda Limited.
The project valued at a tune of 1.33 billion Ugandan shillings is supported by the United Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) through the FDS initiative and is expected to be completed within six months.
During the handover Ceremony, Ammo James who the contractor who has undertaken the project committed himself to delivering high quality work.
“You don’t need to wo0rry about this project, we as Ashanty Business services Uganda Limited has a proven track record of handling in major projects in both Yumbe district and Arua City, “said James.
Charles Kabiri, the deputy city clerk of Arua thanked the vendors for their cooperation and acceptance of the project. “ I want to thank you for having accepted with Ayivu Division and Arua City that lets continue to be cooperative with the mentioned groups that are supposed to be beneficiaries in this market” noted Charles.
The Resident City Commissioner of Arua Salim Komakech warned the contractor against substandard work emphasizing the need for excellence “I am the RCC Arua, In will not allow you to proceed with the construction when I see that you are doing a Soddy work, I will come with a hoe, destroy the whole thing and you will begin afresh, if it says put 3 bags of cement, it should be three “the RCC warned.
Meanwhile Malon Avutia, the mayor of Ayivu Division advised parents to caution their young daughters about interacting with the project workers stressing that, any misconduct involving under aged girls will be met with legal consequences “Please advise the young girls that the workers are not here to target them.
However I want to remind the contractor that if any underage girl becomes involved in a problematic situation, he will face the consequence” said Malon.
The community seems to have confidence in Ashanty Business Services Uganda Limited given their experience with the previous projects in the region.
