The political tensions in Arua city’s Mayoral race characterized by propaganda and lies are looming as potentially aspiring candidates face off during consultations a head of the 2026 general elections.
Caesar Trinity Draecabo the former President Arua City Development Forum who has declared interest to contest as the city mayor allege that Wadri Sam Nyakua the Mayor of Arua city and Isa Kato the former Mayor Arua city who have equally shown interest to contest in the same race are propagating lies against him on accounts that he has stepped down and won’t contest in the 2026 general elections.
Draecabo accuses Kato of falsely spreading lies to voters on grounds he is not going to contest and that Wadri is trading on propaganda claiming that Draecabo has agreed to step down to campaign for the current Mayor.
“I have received information from my agents that one aspirant Isa Kato was addressing a team in Binze and telling them that he has spoken to me and I have agreed to step down for him, I brushed it off because I know that is cowardly and the claim that I had stepped down for Honorable Wadri Sam Nyakua is a total lie, it is cowardice, it is uncalled for to be coming from a person of Sam Nyakua. We did not beg him to make statements that he was not going to contest, it came from his lips.” Draecabo Alleges
However when conducted the two denied the allegations.
Isa Kato claims he has not moved to the alleged location where he is said to have met voters.
“Caesar Must be principled as he is advocating to be a leader, if he doesn’t have agenda, and its why he is moving around telling people what I have not said, then he is not illegible to become a leader, I have never organized a pavilion of talking to people and I don’t talk about anybody.” Kato replied
Whereas Wadri Sam Nyakua rubbished the allegations noting that he has not had any meeting and agreement to step aside for Caesar but is readily coming to contest in the NRM elections.
“Tell him to speak another thing, if he doesn’t have anything to talk about, that he should be the one to contest, where shall I go? I am the defending champion, let him come and I will be there, we shall meet in the filled. Why is he lamenting that I endorsed him, where did I endorse him? Now if I endorsed him, where would I go?”
All the three feuding aspiring candidates are in the ruling National Resistance Movement NRM party.
