Salim Kumakech the Resident City Commissioner sets an end to his service in the office in Arua city after a year of triumphs in the office.
Kumakech who has been transferred to Buyende as the Resident District commissioner of the district handed over to his successor Major Betty Akello Otekat.
During the event held at the RCC office Kumakech hinted a number of challenges and activities for his counterpart.
“You need to support the planners to do an organized planning and deployment, there is high level of urban poverty, there is also high level of under development in infrastructures especially the roads, high level of encroachments on our wet lands, matter of security, land wrangle, high level of smuggling, high cases of violent conducts of our secondary schools. This has been historical,” he said.
“The and the current atmosphere for the general election is generally very good, continue engaging the communities, there will be need for you to popularize border meetings, implementing PDM misuse of the funds by the beneficiaries, show them the body of noncompliance on corruption. I wish you the best,” Kumakech added.
Betty Otekat, applauded his predecessor for his achievements in the city and promised to carry on the legacy.
“I will continue consulting from you and I want to extend my sincere gratitude to you on the valuable contribution you and your team have made towards the development of the city. You have given me a very wonderful report and this is my guiding tool and I believe will greatly improve.”
Former minister for Gender Labor and Social Development, Zoe Bakoku Bakoru, called upon the new RCC to work together with other stake holders.
“You are going to be in charge of a lot of things because what happens in Arua city spills over in to the entire west Nile region. The challenges are going to be high. You are lucky to have a good team. The security teams are very cooperative. The most important thing is, please, produce results.”
Richard Anyama, the West Nile Deputy Regional Police Commander confirmed their support as police in working with the new RCC.
“We have been working as a team, we are going to give you the same support so that you fit here as head of the security and expectations are high. I want to encourage you to take your time,” he said.
Both Kumakech and Akello were welcomed in their duty stations and commenced work with immediately after the takeover of the offices.
