Arua City
Arua City secondary schools have launched their athletics competitions, with 12 schools participating, marking a slight decline in numbers compared to 2024.
Concurrently, the netball games have progressed to the semifinal stage, showcasing the competitive spirit of the city's schools.
Drazu Philliam, Chairperson and Organizing Secretary of the Arua City Sports Association, encourages all schools in the city to actively participate in co-curricular activities. "We urge schools to recognize the value of sports and other activities in shaping students," he said.
Mundura Hasuna, Chairperson of Referees in Arua City, commended the standard of officiating in the games, particularly in netball. "The games are being well officiated, reflecting the dedication of our referees," she noted.
Amayo Gilbert, one of the referees, provided details on the schools that have qualified for the semifinals. “In the first quote, Muni S.S won against Tarantino S.S and in the second quote, Mvara won against Nile High and Ediofe Gils’ S.S won against Soma and this means in the semifinals, Muni will play Ediofe and Mvara will play Arua Public S.S," highlighted Gilbert.
The competitions, which commenced with netball last week and athletics on June 23, 2025, are scheduled to conclude on June 24, 2025, as per the organizers. And the events promise to showcase the talents of Arua City's secondary school students.
