Safety of players and the rest of the learners is highly taken up by the organizers of the central division primary ball games which are ongoing in Salim Saleh grounds in Mvara, as the government has suspended the use of vehicles for transporting learners for events, hence necessitating movement on foot from schools to the games venue, and back to school.
In the games that will advance to the semi-finals on Thursday this week are advancing smoothly as both learners and the community comply with the set rules and regulations.
David Ochora, the match commissioner for Arua central division ball games association says, all the head teachers and the games teachers have been mandated to ensure safety of the learners in these games to the dot.
“For the safety of the learners, we have given the mandate to the head teachers and the games teachers, they were briefed about that, since the issue of transporting them in vans and other things was abolished, we gave them amble time to transport the children to the playground, and from here, we always give them time to feed the children well and they should let the players have enough water, we start the match early and we also end it a bit early so that they go home early, “Ochora said,
Ben Acidri, the games teacher of Arua primary school urges the participating schools to observe the set rules at all costs for the games to conclude as planned,
“Am now urging those games teachers to support the learners and at least move with them together from school to the playground and even from the playground to the school, make sure that, the children also reach home safely after reaching to school,” Acidri emphasized.
Adiga Ben James, the games teacher for Iklas Islamic center confirms that, they are doing what it takes to do the needful, as all schools are mandated,
“We put some teachers and prefects in front, and then others in the middle and behind so that we monitor the movement on the road such that we come safely and then we also go back in that order, when you see a pupil as a teacher, you fast help that child, we are here as a group, we need all the teachers who are here to take care of all the children,” Adiga said.
About 40 schools, both private and government aided were to participate in this year’s primary ball games at Salim Saleh grounds, and the officials have not expressed much challenges in the progress of the games.
