The first day for the nomination of Candidates vying to occupy Local Government positions like the district/City Chairpersons, Lord Mayor, and Councilors, including special interest groups in Arua City saw a massive turnout of candidates for nominations.
The process began with the first candidate being duly nominated at around 11:00 a.m. after undergoing three different vetting processes.
Aliru Khadijah, the first person to be nominated as Female Councilor representing Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Arua City, expressed her joy and hope that her remaining manifestos will be achieved in the short term if given another chance.
“I am pleased at this hour of 11:00am that I got to be the first person to be nominated. Why I think I am the right person to stand for this position is, I have been the representative for PWDs in Arua city in this term which is running and within this term, we have achieved most of the manifestos that I put” said Khadija.

Andruga Daniel John who was nominated to contest for the position of workers' representative in Arua City stated that, he aims to address the gap between workers in the city.
“When you look at the affairs of the workers, they are not well represented. The advocacy policy workers, it is not well tabled in the council room. Therefore I feel there is a gap and we are coming to solve this including looking at the issues of wages where our workers are suffering” Andruga noted.
Inzikuru Milsen Millie, the female City Councilor for Dadamu, revealed that all her campaign strategies are already in place. “Since it is not my first time, I already know how I came successfully, I am going to add more other strategies like visiting all the wards, cells, I talk to the people, I also link up with my friends who are in those electoral areas so that they talk for me” said Inzikuru Millie.
The nomination exercise, which commenced on September 3, 2025, will run until September 5, 2025.
By press time, nine candidates for different electoral positions had already been nominated in Arua City.
