Members of the National Resistance Movement NRM party yearning for the joint campaigns initially scheduled for Tuesday July 1, 2025 will have to wait longer as the party secretariat is yet to send out the guidelines and schedules for the joint campaign to the various party officers.
According to the NRM party electoral commission’s released road map for the party primaries a head of the 2026 general elections, the party had scheduled a joint campaign for all the candidates aspiring for the parliamentary seats and district chairpersonship effective July 1, but its commencement is not yet clear.
Reports from the two NRM offices of Arua city and district indicates that no guideline has been provided by the party secretariat to this effect.
Joseph Odama the Vurra county aspirant for Member of Parliament disappointedly said “it was clearly indicated in the NRM roadmap that after the nominations are done, we are supposed to kick off for the joint campaigns unfortunately guideline is not yet there, the roadmap which was built for us why are they not implementing it now? Am so disappointed as a person because I so much wanted it to happen,”
Arua district LCV aspirant, Hon. E’yokia Hope whispered her readiness for the campaign as they await the guideline from the secretariat. “Actually the joint campaigns give us a better platform the fact that all candidates will be presenting their manifesto at the same time will give the community a better opportunity to choose there and then, we are only awaiting for guidelines once this is out, am personally ready for it,” E’yokia revealed.
Meanwhile Arua resident district commissioner Swaib Toko offered this guide to the candidate in the absence of the guidelines from the party secretariat. “In the absence of that program from NRM secretariat the different candidates should submit their campaign programs, the NRM office should harmonize them to avoid collusion, 08am–5pm all the activities must stop, no night campaigning, no ferrying of supporters from one location to another, stick to your manifestos,” RDC Toko directed.
The NRM party joint campaigns slated from July 1, shall run till July 14, with the primary polls set for July 16.
