Arua City
The Muslim community in Arua City have been called upon to exemplify love and kindness towards their friends of other denominations as they prepare themselves for Eid-al-Aduha celebrations.
A key aspect of the preparations is the fasting period preceding the celebrations, specifically the Day of Arafah. This fasting is considered a significant act of worship, allowing Muslims to seek forgiveness, reflect on their actions, and cultivate spiritual growth and with Eid al-Adha scheduled for June 6, 2025, there are a few days remaining until the celebrations.
According to Mogan Amin Mahamud, Secretary for Halal, Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Arua Muslim District, the fasting period preceding Eid al-Adha is a significant aspect of the celebrations, warranting participation from all able-bodied Muslims.
"This fasting is an important act of worship, enabling Muslims to seek forgiveness, reflect on their actions, and cultivate spiritual growth," Manamud emphasized.
Fatima Zainab, a Muslim resident of Arua City, echoed similar thoughts, highlighting the prominence of kindness and generosity during the fasting and Eid al-Adha celebrations in that order.
"As we prepare to commemorate this momentous occasion, we are reminded of the paramount importance of sacrifice and generosity," she said. "We urge all Muslims to demonstrate love and kindness towards their friends of other denominations, fostering a sense of community and togetherness."
Abdumalick Ibrahim, another Arua City resident, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming celebrations, stating, "We're thrilled to celebrate Eid al-Adha with our families and friends, sharing meals, exchanging gifts, and distributing sacrificial meat to the poor and needy."
As Eid al-Aduha draws near, the Muslim community in Arua City is poised to embark on a joyous and spiritually enriching experience.
The celebrations will encompass a range of activities, including Eid prayers, exchanging blessings, and bestowing gifts, as well as distributing sacrificial meat to the poor and needy and through these acts of kindness and generosity, the Muslim community in Arua City aims to embody the true spirit of Eid al-Adha, fostering a sense of unity, compassion, and solidarity among all members of society.
