GULU UNIVERSITY CLIMBS TO 4TH IN UGANDAN GLOBAL POSITION WEBOMETRICS RANKING

Gulu University has advanced to the 4th position in the prestigious Webmetrics Global Position Ranking for July 2025 Ugandan Universities ranking, climbing one step from its 5th place standing last year.

This ranking reflects the university's commitment to enhancing its global visibility, research excellence, openness, and overall academic performance.
The Webmetrics ranking, which evaluates institutions worldwide, takes into account various metrics that showcase the university's impact and reach in the academic sphere.
 
Gulu University’s improvement in this year's ranking underscores its dedication to quality education and innovative research.
 
James Ojok Onono, Senior Communications Officer at Gulu University, expressed pride in this achievement. "Climbing to the 4th position in the Webmetrics ranking is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff and students.  It highlights their efforts in promoting research and academic excellence.
 
He revealed that the University is committed to maintaining the momentum and further improving their standing in the global academic community.
 
The university's progress is attributed to strategic initiatives aimed at fostering collaboration, enhancing research output, and increasing online visibility. As Gulu University continues to rise in the ranks, it sets a benchmark for higher education institutions in Uganda and beyond.
 
But according to the rating, Makerere topped the list, followed by Kampala International University in second place, Mbarara University of Science and Technology in third, Gulu University in fourth, and other universities in line.

The university's academic atmosphere is further enhanced by this accomplishment, which also improves its reputation and attracts potential students and researchers.
