A team of Liverpool fans under their umbrella body Northern Uganda Liverpool Fans paid a courtesy visit to St. Jude Children Home in Bardege Layibi Division, Gulu city on Saturday July 05, 2025 as part of their celebration for Liverpool win in the season 2024-2025 English Premier League.
During their visit they were able to offer assorted items that included 50kg of sugar, 50kg of posho, 20ltr of cooking oil, 20ltr of liquid soap, one box of laundry soap among others.
According to these fans, their coming together was to show to the general public that they should let supporting football create impact within the community they live in by giving support to the vulnerable people who are not able to get all the necessities of life.

Jamesson Denish Onekalit the Chairperson Northern Uganda Liverpool Fans said this was the contribution of fans and other well-wishers to the children. “We thought that we could share the little we have, the team members contributed some money together and then they were like, let’s share the love and celebration together with St. Jude orphanage center and that is why we are here today. How I wished we could do more, from the bottom of our hearts, we want to offer this little gift that will in a small way help where possible,” said Onekalit.
From the orphanage center Jameson was also able to do another fund raising among the fans present where they were able to raise 166,500 shillings and was also given to the management of St. Jude children home.
Sarah MeneGuzzo a social worker at St. Jude children home was very glad to see Northern Uganda Liverpool fans coming in to support the orphanage center.
“I want to thank you once again on behalf of the children and on behalf of the staff of St. Jude for your love and generosity, because we always feel like when we see people helping us, we feel we are not alone and we are doing something together for the betterment of the children. So, we always appreciate every time that somebody comes and visits us to say hi to the children,” expressed Sarah.
MacWilliams Edward Mponye the chairperson official Liverpool supporters club Uganda said this is what Liverpool supporters live for and that is why their slogan says, “You Will Never Walk Alone” and seeing Northern Uganda Liverpool supporters doing this, it means they understand that moving together is the way to go in order to succeed.
“Doing such a gesture is a start of a new beginning and we hope this is going to be for continuity; however, it shouldn’t be personal benefit because even Liverpool as a club doesn’t allow us to do business on this. It is purely charity and that is what the club cautions us against, this is the spirit we move with you will never walk alone we are in this together,” said Mponye.
Meanwhile Erick Otto, one of the Liverpool fans said, as fans they did this though they are still mourning for the departed player in the name of Diogo Jota who passed on Thursday 3rd July 2025 in car crash from Spain and left behind very young children.
“Those children are now orphans and because of this, some of the fans are heartbroken to the level they couldn’t join the rest of the team. This charity couldn’t have contributed for this but we really appreciate the management of St Jude children home for the great welcome and we also appreciate you for taking it upon yourself to take care of all these categories of children. May the almighty God continue blessing this center,” said Otto.
St Jude Children home has 68 children of different categories; disabled, abandoned, and the rejected children and all these children are divided to different care givers or mothers where each mother takes care of six children in a home within the center.
