Ayivu West in Arua city organized their Music Dance and Drama festival successfully for primary schools at Ediofe boys primary school on July 27, 2026 with calls for all the schools to get on board, as only 19 schools participated in the different events in the festival.
The one day event commenced vividly in the morning though a good number of schools both private and government aided failed to show up.
Sylvester Atibuni, the chairperson for music dance and drama in Ayivu division says, it’s a very important component of learning which should be considered highly by all the school,
“We have set piece, poetry, sight singing, folk song, original composition, in total we have thirteen items to be performed, it’s a National activity which is well planned by the ministry of education and sports, we hope this will have a lot of impact in learners,” Sylvester said.
Eunice Avuru, the music dance and drama coordinator in Ayivu division urges all the schools to give a chance for their learners to identify their potential in music dance and drama by allowing them participate in the festivals,
“MDD is one of the important activities that rouse the interest of the learners to learn, in MDD, there is no consideration for age like for ball games where they consider the age category, any child from any class can participate, my message to schools that have not participated, particularly to the head teachers is that, they should not deny their children the right to participate in MDD, “Rose emphasized.
Aisha Bint, a pupil from Ragem primary school says, this year’s festival made them to learn a lot in different areas,
“MDD is important, we learned about gender based violence, keeping in school and learning about ending HIV by 2030,they should learn and be part of MDD so that they will learn how to control themselves from HIV, and to learn how to care for their environment, Bint said.
The festivals for the central division and Ayivu East took place earlier, and the two schools selected from the fast level will advanced at the city level to get schools that will represent the city at the National level.
