Linsek Holdings Company limited has been certified with a 4years contract for mineral exploration in Metu sub-county, after their suspension last year by the state minister for mineral development and energy Phiona Nyamutoro due to miscalculations on mining processes.
Their reappearance called for a stakeholder’s engagement meeting to discuss issues on the four years deal on mineral exploration to give them another chance later to get licenses to start mining activities to promote development in the district.
Olima George Vuzi the Moyo district Natural Resource Officer says Linsek Company qualifies to start their mining exploration process due the positive response.
“when Linsek came, they caused a lot of community injuries in the field especially in Metu to an extend it raised a lot of security concerns and the suspension of their work by the state minister for mineral development was because they did not follow the due process of mineral exploration, but the last document I saw for this current Linsek, I think it’s genuine and honestly with due respect when the council looks at it, my expectation is Linsek should be given the leeway to move on with the exploration activities,” Olima stressed.
He also pledged the support of the district towards the mining and exploration activities during the four year period.
Meanwhile Abdul-Majid Chamira the project manager Linsek expressed their commitment to following the directives of the minister.
“The minister told us to follow the right procedures when we are to resume our activities which we have done, we paid workers, minister also told us if we must resume work, we must present original copies of licenses which we delivered to all offices to the district level and the sub-county levels,” narrated Chamira.
Meanwhile Ojok Kelili Bran the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer noted that giving Linsek ago ahead on mineral exploration will attract more investors in the district for development
“If companies are given licenses of exploration and eventually mining, of course the Linsek Company has a license and that is a license of four years this license was issued in 2024 and it will expire in 2028 March, Moyo is going to be another Hoima and Karamoja region then see very serious investors coming here to do mining” Ojok emphasized.
Linsek Holdings Limited came to Moyo in 2024 after discovering that Moyo district has mineral potentials including gold, coal, lime ores and other minerals that are yet to be discovered by the company during the four years contract of mineral exploration.
