Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu the state minister for primary education and the incumbent woman member of parliament Moyo district has disputed the results of the recently conducted NRM primary elections for the woman member of parliament in Moyo district sighting gross irregularities that affected the outcome of the results.
Speaking during a press conference at her residence in Perego village, she noted that, out of 227 villages in Moyo district in half of villages the voters register remained untouched as it was brought from NRM secretariat in Kampala.
“Indicating that presiding officers at the village level have not signed their names, no signature, and telephone numbers, there was provision for them to commit and own the voters register,” said minister.
She further assured the general public that, there is nothing indicating people have taken active part in electoral process citing eligible voters are not captured in voters register, claiming no legal election took place in half of the villages in the district, results were manufactured, well-coordinated and collaborated with interested parties to eliminate incumbent from the eligible voters voting.
Araku Richard the NRM electoral commission of Moyo district says, the procedure has not guided them to tick the names in the register. “The guideline has not guided us, we should mark or write anything on the register, if you read election procedure which says, during the day of polling the village registrar shall call names in the register and shall separate eligible voters from ineligible voters,” he clarified.
Moyo district has fifty thousand two eligible voters in NRM voters register from the 45 parishes and 227 villages.
