Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, State Minister for Primary Education and Woman MP for Moyo District has handed over 250 iron sheets pledged by the Office of the Prime Minister to support faith-based infrastructure.
The Bishop Asili Chapel in Etele Parish received 150 iron sheets, while 100 sheets were designated for constructing the residence of the District Khadi.
During the handover ceremony at the Chief Administrative Officer’s boardroom, Dr. Moriku emphasized the government’s people-centered and bottom-up approach to development.
“We are here to deliver what has been brought from the Government of Uganda to the people. The people may not afford everything they need, but we bring government contributions to support development be it churches or mosques,” she said.
Julian Sekamwa, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Moyo, commended the minister’s transparency and urged beneficiaries to use the donation responsibly. “Now that the iron sheets have been handed over, let’s ensure they serve their intended purpose,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the Christian community, Rev. Enguma Lawrence, Parish Priest of Etele, expressed gratitude for the donation, “We thank the government for supporting faith-based institutions. These iron sheets will help us practice our faith more comfortably,” he stated.
On behalf of the Muslim community, Sheik Ibrahim Sulaiman, Deputy District Khadi, also appreciated the government’s contribution. “These iron sheets will go a long way in helping us construct the residence of the District Khadi,” he noted.
Amoko Emmanuel, the District Speaker representing the LC5 Office, concluded by affirming that the support has strengthened the faith of believers in the district.
