Moyo District LC5 Chairperson, Vukoni Jimmy Okudi, has officially appointed members of the District Executive Committee (DEC) shortly after assuming office on Tuesday.
The appointments were made during the swearing-in ceremony held at Moyo People’s Hall, where the newly appointed leaders took oath before the Chief Magistrate of Moyo, Tonny Obongo, marking the beginning of their official duties.
During the council sitting, Vukoni nominated Asienzo Aurelia, the Female District Councillor representing Moyo Sub-county, as the Vice LC5 Chairperson. Her nomination was seconded and approved by the council.
The chairperson also appointed other members to key executive positions, including Isadru Peter as Secretary for Social Services and Community-Based Services, Isaac Draguga as Secretary for Administration, Finance and Planning, and Maridio Univar as Secretary for Works and Technical Services.
After unveiling his executive team, Vukoni called for unity and teamwork among leaders to promote the development of Moyo District.
“If we are not united, we cannot push Moyo forward. After us, there are people who will come and lead Moyo, so we must leave a positive mark because posterity will judge each one of us according to what we have done,” Vukoni noted.
He further emphasized that residents have high expectations from the new leadership and urged the executive members to serve responsibly.
“The people in this hall today have expectations from us. We must manage those expectations the way they entrusted us with leadership. We are leaders and should lead with purpose,” he added.
Maridio Univar, who was appointed Secretary for Works and Technical Services, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged commitment to delivering on her responsibilities.
“I want to thank everyone who is here. It is really a surprise for me and I want to thank the chairperson. I am going to perform my duties diligently,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Area Member of Parliament, Aleru Tom Aza, urged leaders and residents to put elections behind them and focus on development.
“Let us join hands together and work for the social, economic and cultural development of the Madi sub-region in general and Moyo District in particular,” Aza advised.
