While endorsing Rt. Hon. Anita Among as the candidate for the 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female) position, the NRM delegates in Moyo district are urging her to advocate for the long-awaited municipality status for Moyo, which has been overdue.
During a meeting with delegates from the Madi sub-region on Monday morning at Moyo Multipurpose Grounds, Anyama Williams, the NRM district chairperson who also serves as the LC5 chairperson, said the struggle for Moyo to be granted municipality status has been ongoing for a long time and involves various stakeholders.
“The church has come on board, Arua diocese has come on board, and His Lordship the bishop is in support. The biggest thing we are asking from the Speaker is to push parliament to consider granting municipality status to the district,” Anyama noted.
Meanwhile, Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaduchu, the Woman Member of Parliament for Moyo and State Minister for Primary Education, said the government has placed Moyo on the development pipeline.
“I am very optimistic that the government of Uganda has put our region, especially our district, on the frontline of development. Therefore, we need to cast our vote for Rt. Hon. Among,” she said.
Hon. Rwakajera Arinatwe, Workers MP representing Rt. Hon. Speaker Anita Among, said, “I took the decision to support her when I was instructed by the people of the Madi sub-region because I trust the person I am presenting.”
“I trust Rt. Hon. Speaker for her contributions to this nation, especially to Northern Uganda,” he added.
However, Julian Sekamwa, the Deputy RDC for Moyo, appealed to the delegates to vote for the right leader who will deliver services to the citizens.
“Plan to vote for leaders who know how to work and promote government programs, knowing that the party has a very good relationship with parliament,” the RDC said.
