The Moyo Sub County Inter-School Ball Games Competition 2025/2026 successfully concluded on Tuesday 29, July, with a selection of participants who will represent the sub-county at the district level next week in Lefori Town Council.
Twelve primary schools, divided into four zones, took part in the competition. Zone D, comprising Moyo Boys, Moyo Girls, and Kings Primary Schools, emerged winners after defeating Zone C—which included Epiphany, Fr. Bilbao, and Torolo Primary Schools—by 2 goals to nil.
Speaking during the closing ceremony at Moyo Army Playing Ground, Kadra Michael, a teacher at Moyo Army Primary School and host of the event, urged both participants and the community to continue exhibiting the same level of discipline.
“Now that we are moving beyond the zonal competitions, my request is that we maintain the same respect and discipline you have shown here, even as you go out, for the development of football in our district,” he said.
Kadra added that since the beginning of the games, no cases of indiscipline had been reported from either players or members of the community.
Oduti Albert, the Vice Technical Chairperson of Moyo Sub County Sports Committee, emphasized that sports are all about teamwork, discipline, and skill. “This is taking us to another level. Remember, you are not the same people who began at the school level. You played at the group stages, and a few were selected to represent your zone at the zonal level, which has just concluded,” he explained.
He further added that from the zonal competitions, they would now select players to represent Moyo Sub County at the district competition in Lefori.
Meanwhile, Akuku Robert, the head teacher in charge of Moyo Sub County, called for continuous teamwork in nurturing young talents. “All we do is help the young ones to explore and develop their talents so that in the future, they may excel in their careers,” Robert said.
On his part, Irama Patrick, Chairperson of the Head Teachers’ Association for Moyo Sub County Games and Sports, urged all sports teachers to register the selected players from the schools within two days.
