Eiyo Patricia Tassas an aspiring candidate for woman Member of Parliament seat in Moyo district has donated ten plastic chairs to Akaka primary school, a community founded school in Illo village Aka parish Dufile sub-county after a call made to her by the school management.
Anyama Stephen the class teacher of primary two expressed the challenges they face while teaching and learning under a tree when it comes to rain season.
“As of now, we are sitting under a tree because the block is not enough and from primary one up to primary two they sit and learn under the tree but when it starts raining, we really suffer a lot the interruption by the rain makes life hard for us teachers and the pupils feel uncomfortable sometimes they dodge coming to school knowing that the rain will disturb them and this really affects performance, so I request government to help in with this situation,” Anyama appealed.
Similarly, Vuciri Silton Simon the deputy head teacher highlighted the inadequate sitting facilities including the few classrooms for the learners but appreciated Patricia for her contribution to the school.
“We have a lot of challenges, one of them is sitting facilities, the children sit and learn outside because of luck of accommodation, the class rooms are not enough the community is struggling so hard to make sure the children sit in class but we are really grateful to Patricia for assisting, today you have given us the ten chairs, we are very grateful,” Vuciri said.
However Patricia Tassas Eiyo emphasized on giving support to the children because they are the future leaders.
“I and my team made a courtesy call to the primary school and I managed to speak to the children who are learning under the tree. Of course it is under conducive environment to interact with nature but during the rainy season, it’s a bit challenging. we hope people could come rally some support because these are our children, these are our communities we mighty get a president from them we may get other leaders who will change this Nation and through my interaction with the children some of them said they want to be teachers, doctors, catechists, priests, very inspirational and I also want to thank the teachers normally when you post teachers to rural areas they are not interested to go there but I spoke to a few of them and they are so comfortable,” said Eiyo.
