Muni university fraternity has defined the three staff members who died in a tragic accident as loyal and dedicated servants who highly contributed to the development and wellbeing of the institution.
Rev canon Patrick Acema the chaplain advent of Christ chapel, Washington Opio, the Senior Sports Officer and Kennedy Acidri the driver, succumbed to an Accident at Nyapolo village along Pakwach-Nebbi Highway when returning form Official duty on Saturday leaving two survivors.
During the requiem mass at the university, the university vice Chancellor Professor Simon Anguma Kartrini referred to the deceased as passionate, loyal and committed servants of the institution.
“Reverend Acema has never failed, he moderated the vice chancellor assembly with the students and moderated it very well. This is somebody who in his services at Muni University has given a lot of strength to management, he went over and above the scope of his cardinal responsibility at this university. In managing the students, this was our pillar, you can already see what I am going to miss,” he said in sorrow.
Martin Mukuy, on behalf of the academic staff stated that the deceased have left a legacy to reckon with.
“Reverend Canon Patrick Acema, was a down to earth man. When you talk about Kennedy, he is a man who embedded respect, he embedded discipline of the highest order. He was a man we need to live his spirit of humbleness, of respect, of diligence, he was an icon of moral fabric, humbleness,” Mukuy remarked.
Dr Nassarious Luyimbo the chairperson of the academic staff association portrayed their death as a big loss to the institution.
“Reverend Patrick Acema will be remembered as a devoted servant of God and a pillar of spiritual growth. While Mr. Opio Washington stood out as a dedicated mentor who nurtured talents and inspired many. Their driver Mr. Acidri Kennedy served with discipline and loyalty. Their sudden departure is a painful and repressible loss.”
Rev Canon Patrick Acema will be laid rest in Mvara on Tuesday 30th, while Washington Opio will be buried in Gulu on Saturday and Kennedy Acidri will be laid to rest on Wednesday 1st October in Bongomva in Ocoko in Arua district
