Nebbi Catholic diocese gets a new bishop

Rt. Rev Fr. Raphael P’Mony Wokorach has been consecrated and installed as the 4th bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese.
The consecration was scheduled for June 26, 2021 but was postponed as the country was still under the 42-day nationwide lockdown enforced by the President to fight Covid-19.
The diocesan seat fell vacant in November 2018 after Pope Francis transferred the then Bishop Sanctus Linus Wanok to Lira Catholic diocese and appointed Msgr Emmanuel Odaga as the Diocesan Administrator till March 31st when Rev. Fr. Wokorach was appointed to fill the void.
The chief consecrator Gulu Archbishop John Baptist Odama was moved by the joy of the ceremony and urged the new bishop to serve the Christians well.
“I want appreciate Bishop elect Raphael P’Mony Wokorach for having accepted the will of God expressed by the choice his holiness made of him, to say yes I accept to serve the people of Nebbi and the Catholic Church in general. Be a faithful steward. Don’t hesitate to lay down your life for the flock”, he said.
The diocesan administrator Msgr Emmanuel Odaga appreciated the calm of the Christians in the absence of the bishop for the two years.
“Their faith is so farm, so real that whatever situation came their way, they would seek attention of church leaders to guide them even if we didn’t have a bishop. There are people who really love their Church, they love their diocese so much and we believe that our collective prayers have led us this far”, he said.
Reverend  Father Wokorach is the fourth Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese after John Baptist Odama, now Arch Bishop of Gulu, Martin Luluga now Emeritus and Sanctus Lino Wanok currently in Lira Diocese.
