The Buganda Community leaving in West Nile under their association Buganda Community in West Nile and across Karuma have donated assorted items to over 100 teenage mothers in Arua city.
At an event held at Oli Health Center IV in Arua central division, Arua city, the community donated assorted essential items like foodstuffs, diapers, clothes and mama kits to support the pregnant and teenage mothers.
Sr. Monica a senior nursing officer attached to Oli health center IV, encouraged the teenage mothers not to lose hope and thanked the Buganda Community for the support they rendered to the teenage mothers at the facility.
“We are not encouraging teenage pregnancy and I thank you people so much for the initiative you people have taken and is the first of its kind in the facility and more so considering to support pregnant and teenage mothers” she said.
Speaking at the event, Paul Lule, the chairman of Buganda community in West Nile, revealed that the association has shifted its focus to deliberately provide support to the neglected areas that are plagued with poverty and inadequate support.
“We are here to support you because it was a mistake and it was like an accident and we are now here to encourage you that you can still leave a successful life after here even if you people have some challenges, there is still hope for all of you to go back to school and study to become a successful person in future” he said.
