Hon. Dr Moriku Joyce Kaducu the state minister for primary education has said salary will be enhanced for the arts teachers but not in their expectation.
She was speaking while addressing the crowd during the celebration of the 63rd of Independence Day at Celecelea stadium in Moyo district.
The minister raised eyebrows among the teachers after revealing the progress of the negotiation noting that, “Constructive dialogue is ongoing and we are hopeful for a positive outcome but not at the expectation of the teachers. However, we are very optimistic that the issues of the teachers will be address to its logical conclusion as the government is negotiating and having round tables. Again I want to appeal to the teachers to give a helping hand to our children as the final examinations near,” Moriku urged.
The teachers industrial action gained significant attention, with stakeholders urging the striking teachers to return to their classrooms and assist students as exams continue.
This same sentiment was also echoed by Tarakpe Sara, the local council one Chairperson of Celecelea Cell who noted that, “Fewer schools participated in the celebrations due to teachers’ absence from school.”
The industrial actions effects remain eminent as stakeholders could not hide from the fact that the salary differences in the education system is creating more huddles.
