Primary school administrators in Moyo District have called on parents to handle Primary Seven candidates with care and provide a conducive environment as they approach their final examinations.
According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) timetable, the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) will begin on 31st October 2025 with the briefing, followed by Mathematics on Monday, 3rd November, and Social Studies, Integrated Science, and English on the subsequent days.
Mawadri Angelus, the Head Teacher of Homing Dover International, Moyo Branch, said some homes are filled with noise—especially those involved in brewing local alcohol—which affects school-going children and denies them enough time for studies. “The social environment where these children come from should at least favor their learning. Homes that brew alcohol should try to minimize children’s exposure to such environments so that they have enough time to revise their books,” he noted.
Aserua Jean Clara, the Deputy Head Teacher of Moyo Boys Primary School, urged parents to give their children adequate time and attention as they prepare for the national examinations. “Parents should provide a conducive learning environment for the learners. They should sleep in rooms with proper lighting so they can study and revise at night,” she stated.
Aserua further advised that children should associate with good peer groups that encourage discipline and academic focus. “If they move with the wrong kind of people, they might even drop out of school,” she added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, the State Minister for Primary Education, called on parents to give maximum support to their children during this period. “Let’s try to give them the most needed support at this time. Help them, counsel them, and provide what they need to perform well in their examinations,” the Minister emphasized.
Dr. Kaducu further encouraged parents to ensure that their children have a conducive environment to help them succeed and move to the next level.
