Secondary schools across Moyo District offering both O-Level and A-Level education have expressed optimism about posting good results in the ongoing 2026 mock examinations.
The examinations officially commenced Friday with the briefing of candidates.
School administrators and students say the thorough preparations undertaken over the past months have boosted their confidence, and they expect improved performance in this year’s mock examinations.
Erwaga Fabio, a Senior Six student pursuing History, Economics and Divinity (HED) combination at Moyo Star High School, said he is confident of performing well because of his consistent preparation.
“I am well prepared for these papers because I have been reading my books and doing a lot of practice, especially in ICT subsidiary. Since the examinations started, the papers have been manageable. I want to perform well for my school and for myself. I am expecting to score 10 points in these mock examinations,” said Eruwaga.
Similarly, Anzoa Jessica, a Senior Six student at the same school, said candidates have been studying tirelessly and remain hopeful of attaining good grades.
“From the papers we have done so far, we are trying our best. Although some papers have been challenging, we are working hard to achieve the best results by the end of the mock examinations. I believe I will achieve good results,” Anzoa said.
Meanwhile, the Director of Studies for O-Level at Moyo Star High School, Ommase Nikalon, said the school had adequately prepared its candidates sitting the Joint Mock Examinations.
“Before the mock examinations began, teachers guided the candidates on what is expected of them in all subjects. With the preparations we have undertaken, we are confident that our learners will produce good results,” Ommase said.
At Moyo Secondary School, the head teacher, Eberu Anthony Vuciri, who also serves as Chairperson of the Moyo Head Teachers’ Association, said the school administration had fully prepared candidates sitting the West Nile Mock Examinations and is confident they will perform well.
“As educators, we prepare learners throughout the entire cycle from Senior One to Senior Four and from Senior Five to Senior Six. Teaching under the new curriculum is itself preparation for the final national assessments. As management, we are ready because we have organized this assessment under the West Nile Regional Examination Board,” Eberu said.
Mock examinations are widely regarded as an important measure of students’ readiness for their final national examinations.
They provide candidates with a realistic examination environment, help identify areas that require improvement, enable students to set achievable academic goals, encourage further revision and research, and prepare them mentally to manage examination pressure while minimizing surprises on the final examination day.
