Over 800 students from various schools across Moyo District converged at Moyo Secondary School for this year’s Young Christian Students (YCS) Rally Day celebration, held under the inspiring theme “Empowering Faith in Action for a Sustainable Future.”
The event, which brought together young Catholics from across the district, served as a moment of reflection, renewal, and encouragement in faith and social responsibility. Presiding over the celebration, Father Gilbert Obira delivered a powerful message urging YCS members to lead a responsible and exemplary lives, both within the school environment and in their wider communities.
Father Obira emphasized that true Christian living is not limited to attending religious events, but is shown in daily actions. “Living a life of faith means reflecting the values of Christ in all we do through honesty, service, respect for others, and care for creation,” he told the gathered students.
Echoing the day’s theme, Bayo Julius, the Vice Chairperson of Moyo Vicariate, called on the students to take an active role in environmental conservation as part of their Christian duty.
“Caring for the environment is not only a social responsibility but also a spiritual one. It is our way of protecting God’s creation,” Bayo said.
However, Araku Bazil Representing the headteachers reaffirmed the continued support of school leadership for the YCS movement. He commended the role of YCS in nurturing discipline, leadership, and moral uprightness among students and assured the church of ongoing cooperation in strengthening faith-based student programs.
The rally featured prayers, singing, scripture readings, and motivational talks. It offered a platform to reinforce the moral and spiritual values of young people, encouraging them to be ambassadors of positive change in their schools and communities.
