Police in Arua city are investigating a case of suspected food poisoning that claimed the life of a 12 year old pupil of sacred heart nursery and primary school leaving the other critically ill and admitted.
It is alleged that on September 13, 2025, Osabua Francis a resident of Alivu cell, Alivu ward, Ayivu Division Arua city served the deceased late Praise Titus and Osuta Morgan with soda that later on made the children to develop stomach complications leaving them hospitalized.
On September 16, at around 9:00am, Praise Titus breathed his last, leaving Osuta Morgan in a critical condition.
“On 13th September 2025 Saturday, Praise Titus and Morgan Osuta complained of severe headache and severe stomach pain and on Saturday they were taken to the dispensary, on Monday the doctors noticed that this children were urinating, in their urine there were some blood and even their in their feaces when they defecate there’s some blood content and on Tuesday morning, Praise Titus passed on,” Adia Augustine, a family representative, narrated.
Superintendent of police-SP Anguyo Jimmy Baiga the Police Public Relations Officer for West Nile confirmed the incidence, saying investigations into the matter are underway.
“It is alleged that on 13th September 2025, one called Osabua Francis served the deceased Praise Titus and Osuta Morgan with a soda after taking the soda Praise Titus developed a stomach complications on September 16, 2025 at around 9am he passed on, the case was opened and the suspect one Osubua Francis, I confirm to you is in our custody,” Anguyo said.
SP Anguyo however, called upon the parents to be vigilant with their children especially during this period of the ongoing industrial action by teachers that has left the children rooming anyhow in the community.
“so my advice to the parents is that you try as much as possible to support your children to make sure that they don’t roam anyhow because when they do, they get anything to be eaten given by an unknown person and never know that, that unknown person maybe your enemy,” Anguyo added.
