Uganda Red Cross has commenced its 3 day national youth camp, to engage and empower young people through practical workshops, humanitarian training, and life skills development.
The camp hosted by St. Mary’s Ediofe Girls Secondary School has more than 400 students from the different districts across Uganda taking part.
Saviour Yoligam, the National youth chairperson Red Cross society states that, the camp is platform for young people to get life skills and leadership, networking among others.
“We are going to have at least in each district a participant coming. We have taken it as a mandate to ensure that our young people are skilled, these youth who are coming here will be able to learn first aid, they will be able to learn hands on skills and they will also be able to engage themselves in the team building games to ensure that they know team work,” he said.

Innocent Eguma, the National Chairperson for Northern Region and host of this year’s camp express’s excitement over the youth turn up.
“We are really blessed to host this camp and we are very happy that most of the young people who are in schools have shown interest in coming for this camp. As we speak, we have close to 100 participants from almost all the schools within Arua city from Koboko, Yumbe Terego Madi-Okollo and Maracha, so we believe the participants we have will be ambassadors of change,” he said in an earlier interview with Radio Pacis.
Onyiru Harvila Tina, a participant from Arua city shares her expectation from the camp.
“I have come to learn so many things like how to give first aid to my community members in case of needs like accidents. I want to also connect and relate with different people because in this camp we learn how to be friendly with people.”
The camp at St Mary’s Ediofe girl’s S.S kicked off on Thursday September 4 2025 with the arrival of participants and ends on 8th September 2025. It is being held under the theme: “Skills for the changing world, empowering youth for meaningful economic participation”.
The day recognizes youth as vital agents of change and partners in achieving global goals within their communities.
