Christians in Arua diocese have continued to remember their fallen bishop Late Bishop. Frederick Drandua as a peace maker and unifier of the various religious denominations in West Nile as they celebrate his 9th memorial anniversary.
Late bishop Frederick Drandua who served as the second bishop of Arua diocese passed on to glory on September 1, 2016 at Nsambya hospital after his retirement from the episcopal see of the diocese and today (1st eptember 2025), marks exactly 9 years since his demise.
Simon Ojotre a parishioner of Ociba sub parish in Arua diocese recalled the late Frederick Drandua for his efforts in reconciling people beyond religious borders calling the clerics to immolate him.
“I remember the late bishop of his loveliness, in his regime the faith of the Christians grew steadily, he worked with all people and because of this, he one time talked to the Muslims and brought an end to a conflict that lasted among the Muslims in Arua. I expect the clerics to live in unity with the Christian and grow in faith as Arua diocese,” Ojotre stated in an interview with radio pacis.
Similarly, Munguleni Dalmasious Vincent, from Ediofe cathedral parish remembered the late bishop for activating ecumenism.
“There used to be a lot of fracas in our sister faith that is the Muslim community, he was an initiator of peace, brokered that peace with among the Muslim community. There used to be this Christian service where the bishop of the Anglican Church then Late Enock Lee Drati, would come to Ediofe cathedral, bishop Frederick would go to Emmanuel cathedral in Mvara, something that I looked at being a Christian unity,” Munguleni recalled.
Meanwhile, retired Can. Isaac Jaffer Anguyo, the director of “Here Is Life” labelled the late bishop Frederick Drandua as an accommodative and inclusive person, a life he thinks clerics should exhibit.
“His life of was of accommodation, inclusiveness, patience and being able to listen. I think these are what we would want to see even in the present clericals of the Catholic Church,” Rt. Can. Anguyo noted.
Late bishop Frederick Drandua born in Uleppi Parish on 12th August 1943, was ordained a Priest on 9th August 1970 and appointed Bishop of Arua Diocese on 27th May 1986.
