The administration and the pupils of OASIS- Boarding primary school, Muni campus in Arua city have encouraged other schools in the region to take up Music Dance and Drama lessons for learners.
This came after the school achieved a milestone in this year’s Uganda National Primary Schools’ Music Dance and Drama (MDD) festivals held at Mbarara high school in Mbarara city, held with focus on talent development and social transformation for learners.
Likico Hajira, the head teachers of the school testifies that, it’s an indication of dedication to nurturing talent, “OASIS boarding primary school proudly represented the west Nile region and emerged as the fourth best school nationally, an outstanding achievement in a competition featuring some of Uganda’s most competitive and renowned institutions. This historic milestone reflects the schools dedication to historic education and nurturing of artistic talent among its pupils,” Likico said.
The learners who participated in the festivals express willingness to continue building on the foundation they have built, “I love MDD so much, I learn how to sing, dance and expose my talent, and I encourage other children to join clubs like MDD,” one of the learners said.
Wilson Asiku, the teacher who spearheaded the trip to Mbarara for the National competitions says, there is need to train learners on MDD right from infant classes for better outcomes, “OASIS always takes MDD as a serious activity to do. We always follow every step. We have a lot to do especially starting trainings early and even ensuring that we get in to touch with our trainers such that they also have a lot of time with our learners. Above all, we need to train children right away from lower classes,” Wilson emphasized.
Gerard Tayo, the administrator of OASIS Boarding Primary School has therefore called on the different schools in the region to take up what the school is doing in MDD to build a bright future for learners, “We also now want other schools to see what this school is doing, let them come up and they are also free to come and see what we are doing here. Let’s all unite and we shall continue with this performance. I want to tell you, the music the children are doing right now is not something to be gambled,” Gerard noted.
Nakivubo Blue Primary School took the first position in the National festivals, followed by Buganda Road Primary School and Clevers’ Origin Primary School respectively with OASIS Boarding Primary school, the only school from outside the central region among the top four schools.
