Cattle restocking payments temporarily halted in Dokolo district following a youth-led demonstration over irregularities .
Leaders in Dokolo district have made a pronouncement to temporarily halt payments for the cattle restocking program following a youth-led demonstration over alleged corruption and irregularities in the program.
A group of youths from Dokolo North last week stormed the offices of the RDC, CAO and LCV chairperson expressing their concerns over the program, and claimed they have been excluded from the government initiative.
The youths also demanded for the list of beneficiaries of the program to be displayed in public offices and notice boards to allow others people follow and be updated on the process of the excise.
Responding to the concerns, Barbra Akech, the Resident District Commissioner Dokolo said they have held a meeting with district stakeholders and resolved to halt payments until the matter is sorted.
We shall communicate to the ministry to request either the money should be added for Dokolo since seven people per parishes are causing confusion.
Akech also directed the office of the Chief Administrative Officer to display the full list of cattle restocking beneficiaries to avoid tensions and conflict in the community.

Meanwhile Peter Ogwang, the chairperson LCV Dokolo district said CAO’s office has availed him with a report of the restocking program for the FY 2025/2026- indicating that government allocated shs 2.63bn to pay 527 households in 71 parishes/wards in Dokolo district.
“However, according to the guidelines that currently restricts PDM beneficiaries from receiving the cattle restocking funds, 527 beneficiary list was reduced to 497” Ogwang said.
He further added that the report shows that as of today, the district has profiled only 492 households- 196 have received their payments, with 296 yet to be paid.
Speaking on behalf of the youth, Geoffrey Okoo confirmed that CAO’s office has availed them with the list of the restocking beneficiaries who have so far received payment.
He said the list is full of irregularities and corruption where he is suspecting that could be the fact behind why some Leaders hiding.
The youths pledged to display the list at all the public offices and notice boards in order to allow their people remains updated on the status of restocking payment in Dokolo district.
