During an engagement with LWF, the diocese of Kajo Keji through FADRA and Act church of Sweden who are funding the cross border peace initiative aimed at uniting the two community of Kuku in south Sudan Kajo Keji county and Madi of Moyo in Uganda following the past conflict, the cross boarder peace community have appealed to the donors to continue sacrificing their little resources in supporting the two communities as they have seen positive impact of peace and unity from the two communities.
The cross border peace committee comprising of team from both Moyo and Kajo Keji had series of dialogues in the hot spot conflict areas at the border of South Sudan and Uganda that started from May and end in June and sustained dialogue to Youths in Gbari aimed at uniting the two communities.
Mawa Bashir the chairperson Cross border peace committee said this initiative have made the two communities to get back to their previous life style. “I remember the community of Kajo keji and the community of Moyo sciffcally the Madi community used to hunt together, the Kajo Keji and Madi used to hunt together so this ups and down a lot of an resolved issues between the two communities” Mawa revealed.
He also said that they used to share and enjoy the social services together. “But due to the confusion they were not enjoying but this initiative life is becoming normal” he added
As the project is coming to an end, Isadru Peter the youth leader representing the youths from the side of Uganda called for continuation of the project.
“There should be an extension of the project, many people have been asking us that many donors are coming down what’s happening where are we getting the funding from, so I really want to appreciate you so much as a leader of young people” Peter said. He said the innovation has exposed him and the young people
Alice Jokodu representing the women from the side of Kajo Keji in the peace committee said the initiative has restored hope to the community of kajo keji as they have started repairing the destroyed houses. “Those houses which were destroyed are now under renovation and the development is now going on in our war torn area Kajo keji” Alice stated.
The team from Sweden promised to table the matter when they travel back because they are looking forward at peaceful co-existence.
