The police of Arua Central Police Station have intercepted and recovered a stolen vehicle with registration number UBL 510Z reported missing in Kampala Central Police Station in October 2024.
According to the information obtained from the police, the vehicles were seven in number and went missing last year in October 2024 in Kampala.
One of the vehicles was recovered in Arua City with the help of the CCTV Cameras and the vehicles color was changed from its originally green color to grey by the suspects.
The vehicle belongs to Nabutaro Takahashi a Japanese National who was convinced by one prominent Ugandan Business man based in Japan called Chawuke Abraham to open up a Tour and Travel Company in Uganda.
The Company was opened up in Kabalagala in the name of the Fleet Director Mirembe Silvia instead of the Japanese National Nabutaro Takahashi after investing over 800,000,000 Ugandan Shilling in the Tour and Travel Business.
A case of theft of Motor Vehicle was opened at Kampala Central Police Station and the suspect Mirembe Silva was arrested, through her lawyers, she was granted police bond and told police that the vehicle had a mechanical problem and parked in Gulu as she would lead police where it was parked but did not return to police.
SP Jimmy Anguyo, the police public relations officer of West Nile region, confirmed to Radio Pacis that the vehicle and the driver were handed over to the police of Kampala Central Police Station for further management.
“After intercepting the vehicle, it has been transferred to Kampala together with the driver since we got the driver alone in the vehicle and since the case was registered at Kampala central police station, our work was just to arrest and forward the case to where it was registered originally,” he said.
Anguyo, further urges the public not to trust people with their resources without properly identifying them.
“We are urging the public not to entrust people with their resources anyhow and I know more vehicles have been stolen and are still in the communities, I want to urge the community members to work together with the police when they notice usual vehicles in their communities or people,” he added.
This is the fourth time such vehicles stolen from other places is being recovered in Arua city, the recent one being the interception and recovery of a vehicle stole from Kenya at Slumber land Hotel in Arua City.
