Moyo Cooperative Savings and Credit Society (SACCO) has sworn in a new board of directors comprising the chairperson, secretary, treasurer, and other board members.
The newly elected leaders have pledged their full commitment to serving the organization and its members over the next nine months.
Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, the newly sworn-in Board Chairperson, Abdul Majid Karim, assured members of his commitment to working closely with both the board and SACCO members to improve service delivery and restore confidence in the institution.
“After being sworn in, my commitment to the cooperators of Moyo SACCO is that the worries they have had in the past should be put aside. As the new chairperson, together with my board members, we are committed to working hand in hand to transform the current face of the SACCO and take it to another level within the next nine months,” Majid pledged.
Similarly, the newly sworn-in Secretary, Owume Sam Longo, said the incoming board would continue working closely with the outgoing members to preserve the culture and institutional memory of the SACCO.
“As incoming board members, we pledge our commitment to the SACCO. We are not leaving behind our outgoing members because they have a vital role in guiding us as we execute our mandate. They have served the institution before, and we shall continue consulting and inviting them as has been the culture within the SACCO. The most important thing is our commitment, zeal, and the effort we shall put in to ensure that we succeed,” Owume said.
Meanwhile, Mamgbwi Tino Muhammad, a former board member, pledged continued support to the new leadership, emphasizing the need for unity and growth within the institution.
“We shall continue supporting the new board members. Our interest is simply to see whoever takes over leadership stabilize and grow this SACCO for the benefit of all members,” Tino stated.
However, Barigo Gabriel, the Legal Advisor of Moyo SACCO, challenged the new board to prioritize hard work, particularly in recovering outstanding loans and rebuilding members’ trust in the institution.
“We expect real hard work from the new board members. This hard work should focus on recovering money from members who have not yet paid back their loans. We have substantial amounts of money still outstanding, and these funds need to be recovered. We also need to bring back members who have lost hope in the SACCO and restore their confidence in the institution,” Barigo stressed.
