Pipeline Worldwide on Tuesday June 16, 2026 officially handed over three renovated staff housing units under Phase 2A of the Moyo General Hospital staff housing rehabilitation project.
The project, valued at USD 32,834 (approximately UGX 118 million), is aimed at improving accommodation for health workers at the hospital.
The renovated units will provide safe and dignified housing for hospital staff, reducing the risks associated with late-night travel while improving staff retention and emergency response services.
During the handover ceremony attended by various stakeholders, Eng. Olega Isaac, the Project Manager at Pipeline Worldwide, said the renovation works were completed within one and a half months. He noted that the project forms part of the organization’s efforts to complement government initiatives in strengthening the health sector.
“There are many things that need improvement from our side, the government side, and the political side. We shall continue working together. What we are contributing may seem small, but we know that this small contribution is changing lives,” Isaac said.
The Chairperson of the Moyo General Hospital Board, Mawa Bashir, emphasized the importance of partnerships and resource mobilization in improving health service delivery.
“Lobbying involves many things. When someone supports a project, they naturally maintain an interest in monitoring its progress and ensuring that the intended objectives are achieved,” Bashir noted.
Speaking at the event, Isadru Peter, Secretary for Social Services and Community-Based Services in the Office of the District Chairperson, commended Pipeline Worldwide for its contribution, describing development partners as key supplements to government efforts.
“I congratulate and appreciate your efforts. The government cannot do everything alone. You are here to aid and supplement the Government of Uganda in service delivery,” Peter said.
He added that the government has continued to provide an enabling environment for development partners and organizations to operate effectively.
Meanwhile, Bessi Bernard, the Senior Hospital Administrator, explained that the housing block consists of six units. However, due to limited funding, only three units have been completed under the current phase.
“The block has six housing units, but because of funding constraints, we are handing over three units today. The remaining three units will be completed during the next phase of the project,” Bernard said.
One of the beneficiaries, Bako Liz, expressed gratitude to Pipeline Worldwide for improving the living conditions of hospital staff.
The project seeks to improve the welfare of critical health workers by rehabilitating six apartment housing units in two phases.
This is the second staff housing block renovated by Pipeline Worldwide at Moyo General Hospital. The first block was completed in January 2022 and continues to serve its intended purpose effectively.
