School administrators in Moyo District have expressed confidence and readiness ahead of the forthcoming Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.
With only few days remaining before the start of the 2025 UCE exams, several schools in the district say they have completed all preparations and are only waiting for the examination day. The national examinations will officially begin on Friday, October 10, 2025, with the briefing of candidates, followed by the written papers on Monday, October 13, 2025.
At Moyo Town Secondary School, Titia Annet, the Deputy Head Teacher, said they registered 73 candidates who are ready to sit for the exams. She confirmed that the school has received all the required examination materials.
“We have already received our examination materials, which are safely kept in the office. The teachers have done their best to give the candidates final tips and guidance on how to approach the exams,” said Annet.
She added that both the students and the school administration are ready and waiting for the examination day.
At Moyo Star High School, a total of 304 candidates have been registered for the 2025 exams. However, the school does not have a UNEB center number. Therefore, 139 candidates will sit their exams at Bishop Asili secondary school, while 165 will travel to Yumbe Green Village.
According to Omaase Nikalon, the Director of Studies, the school’s mock results reflect a good level of readiness.
“The level of preparation is shown in our mock results because we did the Jinja Joint Mock, where we made some corrections. We also engaged public teachers in that class, and on the same note, we invited external examiners — the core people marking UNEB,” said Omaase.
At Metu Secondary School, Alum Sam, the Deputy Head Teacher, said they have continued to engage candidates through seminars and group discussions to ensure they are fully prepared. The school registered 53 candidates for this year’s exams.
Meanwhile, the State Minister for Primary Education, Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, urged teachers to continue supporting candidates despite the ongoing industrial action over salaries.
“I really sympathize with our teachers because it’s true — they deserve better. I am appealing to the Government of Uganda to increase their salaries. But I also want to appeal to teachers: this is the students’ future. This is what will determine what they become tomorrow,” said Dr. Kaducu.
National examinations will start with UCE, followed by PLE and then UACE.
