Youths in Moyo district have commemorated the international youth day. Officially the youth day that is celebrated on September 12 every year was commemorated by the youths in Moyo district on 27th September 2025 in Aluru Sub County with more focuses on engaging the youth on production.
Mr. Isadru Peter the district youth chairperson in his remarks says the celebration was to create awareness for the masses.
“We celebrate this day to raise awareness, this day brings youth issues and challenges to the attention of the local community, the day is to promote youth engagement and provide opportunities for young people to voice their issues jointly,” Mr. Isadru remarked.
The national theme of this year’s international youth day is the role of young people in driving national progress, focusing on areas like technology, partnerships, and socio-economic transformation.
Mr. James Perijo Okumu Moyo district Chief Administrative Officer asked youth to position themselves well in the production sector. “As youths we are duty bound to make sure that we position ourselves to contribute to the socio-economic development of this country but most important to help Moyo develop.
Hon. Asusi JB Sam the district vice chairperson says through skills trainings youth can be self-employed. “Jobs in Uganda will never be enough, actually jobs are not enough and they will never be enough so let us create jobs for us, skills training is way to go.” Hon. Asusi JB said.
Citing technological growth Mr. Julius Nyerere Ambama the assistant RDC described youths as change agents. “You are the change agents of this government, the carders of the revolution, the generational leaders, so never undermine yourselves as youth.” Mr. Nyerere described.
The commemoration of the youth day was grace by Hon. Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaduchu the state minister for primary education who said government is committed in uplifting youths in socio-economic growth.
“Government of Uganda is committed to ensure the youth plays a center stage of everything in this government. Being it in service delivery, in budgeting, programing and other services,” Hon. Min. Dr. Joyce Moriku said.
The commemoration of the international youth day in Moyo district was marked with activities of cultural dances, display of art and crafts done by the youths, poems and drama in relation to the theme of the celebration.
